In 1911, Miguel Martinez left Mexico and settled in Dallas. Four years later he met and married Faustina Porras and together they had eight children. In 1916, he opened Martinez Cafe, which began serving what would become known as Tex-Mex by the time the restaurant changed names to El Fenix two years later.The original Tex-Mex salsa.
